When I think of greatness, I think of simple things done with care and purpose—things built to stand the test of time. And in our line of work, greatness often looks a lot like a sturdy, well-made fence.
A Fence Like a Castle Wall
That reminds me of a story about my son and a fence he put up around his property a few years back. He’d spent the weekend hammering, leveling, and measuring, making sure everything was just right. When he finally stepped back to admire his work, my granddaughter—his little girl—came outside to join him. She looked up at him, then at the fence with that kind of wonder only kids have, and said, “Dada, it’s like a castle wall!”
In her eyes, that fence wasn’t just a boundary or a line to keep animals in. To her, it was something special, even a little magical. And I think she captured it perfectly: when we build something with care, it becomes more than just a fence. It’s a mark of pride and a symbol of strength.
