The Cow is Over the Moon in Love

Clover, the calf, has fallen in love with Daniel. Like head over heels in love.

A Special Bond

Remember, they got their cows in June; Clover was about six months old, still nursing, and quite shy. Daniel and the little guy have been going into the pasture most days in an attempt to get Clover used to people. She hadn’t had close contact before then. It’s fun to watch the little guy, three years old, walk right up to the calf and pet her on the nose. He’s super confident.

Clover's Affection

The other evening, when Daniel went to visit her, she came bounding to him and started licking him all over. She nuzzled her head into his chest. Her lover had come home. She remained like this until Daniel pushed her away. She came right back! She wasn’t about to part from him until he crossed over the fence.

Fences that Win Hearts

Clover, the calf with a heart of gold, has a soft spot for fences. We think she’s onto something—because if Clover loves our fences, you will too!

Whether you're looking for durable hexagonal wire mesh, sheep and goat fences, or the perfect farm fence to keep everything in place, we’ve got you covered. Just like Clover, your livestock and property deserve the best, and we’re here to help you deliver it.

My Beagle's Name is Beulah

I love my beagle guys. They are delightful and always full of stories. I could listen to them every day.

A Tail-Wagging Solution

At Louis Page, we’ve got some doggone good news! Our newest customer just happens to raise beagles—yes, those cute, floppy-eared hunters with a nose for adventure. He came to us looking for the perfect fencing solution for containing his high-energy, scent-driven beagles. Guess what? We had just the thing—our hexagonal apron fence.

The Hexagonal Apron Fence

Now, if you’ve ever owned a beagle (or any curious dog), you know they have two favorite things: sniffing out trouble and digging under fences! That's where our top dog, the hexagonal apron fence, comes to the rescue. It’s designed to keep the explorers in and keep them from digging out! They’re always curious. Plus, with the hunting season around the corner, there’s no better time to secure your grounds for your four-legged friends.

Act Now

But wait! The clock is ticking! Fall is the perfect time to install your fence before winter sets in, and you’re left with half-dug holes and half-finished projects. Don’t wait until your beagles—or retrievers or dachshunds—become escape artists, chasing squirrels and dreams across the neighborhood. Act now to prevent potential escape incidents. Get your hexagonal apron fence up and running now to ensure a safe and secure environment for your pets.

Your Peace of Mind

We’re here to make your yard safe and secure, whether you're raising beagles, chickens, or even tomato plants. Our team is not just about selling fences; we're about ensuring your peace of mind. Bernie Loves Blondie

Bernie Loves Blondie

When Daniel was a teenager working in his barn one day, he heard something fall. He approached the sound and discovered a baby squirrel had fallen from its nest, which was built in the space between the barn ceiling and the upper floor. He picked it up, put it in a box, and brought his new pet to his bedroom.

A New Friendship

That day marked the beginning of a new friendship. He named his pet squirrel Bernie. Bernie still had closed eyes and needed bottle-feeding. Daniel visited his goat farmer friend/employer and came home with a formula for goats. Initially, he used an eye dropper, but eventually got a small bottle and nipple to feed his newfound friend. Daniel is a nurturer. I saw it then and see it today as he nurtures his three young children.

Bernie's Adventures

Bernie thrived in his cage in Daniel’s room. He took him out often to play with him. Bernie was famous for spiraling up Daniel’s tall, lean body as if climbing a tree. I don’t recall what Bernie ate as his main meal, but Daniel soon discovered he loved Doritos. I know these aren’t good for anybody, especially squirrels, but Daniel aimed to please. Squeals of delight came from Bernie when he received a chip for a trick.

One day, my oldest son, David, and his wife, Jane, were over for dinner. While conversing at the table, Daniel slipped away and returned with Bernie perched on his shoulder. Bernie took one look at Jane with her gorgeous, long, straight blonde hair and leaped from Daniel to Jane’s head. She screamed, jumped from her chair, and dashed around until Bernie gave up, scurried down her back and legs, and returned to Daniel! We laughed and laughed. Bernie was a cheeky little monkey.

Bernie's Escape

Daniel moved Bernie from his cage to the screen porch that Spring for a much bigger space to roam. Not long after that, Daniel came home from school and found four or five squirrels clinging to the outside of the screen porch! Probably all girls vying for Bernie’s attention. It was hilarious. It took a day or two for Bernie to figure out how to escape. I wonder which girl got him. Although not a blonde amongst them, one indeed won the battle for Bernie.

A Surprise Addition on the Farm? Let's Talk About Hyacinth!

A Surprise Addition on the Farm? Let's Talk About Hyacinth!

If you’ve been following along, you might remember that back in late May, my son Daniel brought home two beef cows: Hyacinth and her calf, Clover. Over the past few months, they’ve adjusted beautifully to their new pasture, grazing peacefully on the lush grass and enjoying plenty of hay from Daniel’s farm.

The Exciting News

But here’s the exciting part—lately, the family has noticed that Hyacinth’s belly has been looking a little rounder than usual. After a bit of sleuthing (and maybe some hopeful guessing), they’re pretty sure she’s pregnant!

Since she came from a farm with other cows and bulls, it's definitely possible. The whole family is thrilled at the possibility, as this would be their very first homegrown addition to the herd. And if the calf arrives safely, it will eventually provide their first home-raised beef—a huge milestone for Daniel’s farm.

The Importance of Reliable Fencing

Stories like this remind me of the joy and hard work that go into farming—and why reliable fencing is such an important piece of the puzzle. Whether you’re expanding your herd, preparing for new arrivals, or just keeping everyone safe and secure, quality fencing is key to a thriving operation.

If you’re planning updates or expansions this fall, we at Louis Page are here to help. Give Terry a call at 978-486-3116—she’s ready to answer questions and help you find the best solutions for your farm’s needs.

Here’s to Hyacinth’s growing family—and perhaps yours!

All my best regards,

Debbie Page

The Jackery of Siblings: Did You Survive?

The Jackery of Siblings: Did You Survive?

I look back over my childhood with two sisters and a brother and wonder how I survived, especially the pranks and jokes my brother played on me. They are probably asking how they survived me!

Sibling Shenanigans

I’ve shared some funny stories about my brother Rick and his pranks, as well as mine. Here’s a delightful story from one of our customers in response to yesterday's email:

“Debbie,

It’s rough being the youngest child in a 7-child household. That was me. It will toughen you up.

My dad had an electric fence inside his hog wire fence to keep the animals from pushing on the fence. My older brothers and sisters got a big tire out by the electric wire. They stood on the tire and grabbed the wire. No shock for them because they were not grounded.

They said, Johnny, come over here and grab our hand. I was standing in the wet grass, and as the 12 volts flowed through me to the grass, my hair probably did curl up.

Everyone laughed but me.

Your family will toughen you up for life.”

Isn’t this typical sibling jackery? I love that it involved a fence. Thank you, Johnny, for this delightful story!

Keep sharing your stories, and I’ll share them with your permission.

Fencing Solutions

What do you have up your sleeve for fencing? We recently received an excellent order for galvanized-after 16 gauge 1x1. Do you know what they are using it for? All 234 rolls? Rodent control! I had not guessed that one. Wire mesh plays a massive part in our society.

Order yours now. Call Terry to discuss your fencing needs.

Have a great day, and send me stories! Any jackery in your personality?

Kind Regards,
