Crab Pot trap wire is made to withstand hard use in salt water. There are two types of mesh available for building crab pots - square welded and hexagonal woven. Both meshes are galvanized for protection against rust and corrosion. The meshes are then coated with a thick layer of PVC, ensuring double protection. The vinyl coating of the trap wire is firmly bonded to the wire and resists scraping. It is impervious to corrosive substances. Crab Pot Trap wire is unaffected by extremes of temperature. It is flexible and will not crack or peel when the mesh is bent. All these features give the vinyl coated meshes a long lifetime. The gauges shown refer to the diameter of the "core" wire without the coating.
Welded wire square mesh - vinyl coated

This mesh is made with two different gauges of wire. The edge wires are strong 12-1/2 gauge, giving the crab pot traps extra strength. The "filler" wires are lighter weight 16 gauge.
