Vinyl Coated - VC - welded wire fencing and meshes last a long time. They are also more attractive than plain galvanized wire. A thick, flexible layer of PVC is tightly bonded to the wire after it has been welded into a mesh. The coating is stable over a wide temperature range and will not crack when the wire is bent. It is unaffected by extremes of temperature and is also very resistant to scraping and abrasion. UV inhibitors in the vinyl protect it from sunlight.
Vinyl coated welded wire mesh and fences, sometimes referred to as plastic coated, are long lasting, strong, durable and rust resistant. They are doubly protected: the vinyl seals the wire from water and other corrosive elements and the underlying core wire is protected by zinc coating. Black and green are the standard colors.
